I always thought that a Tea Party was for girls. Heck, mention the words to me and I think of those precious, make believe moments with my daughter (sipping from any cup that was pink), or, 4th grade history class and the tea parties that all the girls put on (while the boys displayed archery). But times have changed, I've grown more cultured, ;), and I've learned that GROWN UP tea parties are pretty hip.
Tea lovers around the country are getting together in themed parties to taste, try and learn about different teas. Think it's silly? You do the same thing for wine - and teas are just as complex - so why not attend or host one?
Not sure where to start with ideas? Showcase different leaves (green, white, oolong, black and herbal) and infusers (glass, English two kettle, French Press, exterior strainers, etc.) to teach your guests the varying ways to enjoy tea. Create custom blends and share recipes. Comprise a list of questions that get your guests talking about the flavors and tea leaves, in the same way they would wine, and discuss it in a group. Offer snacks that compliment the leaves, and have plenty of sample bags for your guests to take home. Take it to the next level and suggest clothing and costumes that represent the tree growing countries or flavors (cosplay tea party, now that's daring!). Most importantly, take time to connect and enjoy each others company!
Everybody loves a good party, especially one with healthy ingredients. Have a great tea party idea or story to share? Send us a note, we'd love to hear it.
